How Passive is Passive Income

Published by pianogeek under Work at home Edit This

RedecoratingThis weekend I spent a lot of time redecorating my house.  The sun was shining and the was no rain on the horizon and the chirping of the birds outside put me in the mood for spring cleaning.  I move furniture around and have deciding on a new paint color in the living room, “magnolia”.   We also put up a new patio cover as the old one was tattered.  In the summer it is very hot here and you have to have a patio cover if you want to sit outside.  I also happened to see a HGTV show where a couple patio was redone and I knew I wanted mine the same way, so tomorrow, I am off to buy some curtains and a outdoor fan.

I knew my articles and ebook and other passive income stuff I had done on the Internet would be bringing me in money while I worked on my house, so although I am always brainstorming, I tried to “let it go”and forget about the computer for a couple of days.  Other than my habitual email checking, and my writing of a new ebook in the evening, I was pretty successful not writing anything on the internet.

This morning I got online to check my earnings and I was disappointed.  My articles were not receiving the normal hits.  It seemed my lack of presence on the world wide web had some how affected my readership.

Now there are two possibilities.  I was not the only one suffering from spring cleaning or my lack of presence really was affecting my earnings.  I suspect it was the latter.  Even on the weekends I will post an article for the Examiner and I did not do that this weekend.  Even on the weekends I Twitter and visit on Facebook and I did not do that.  No commenting on eHow forums, I put off answering emails from readers till Monday morning.  I have to admit.  My little vacation from my passive income had affected my earnings.

I, of course, would have to do this several weekends in a row, to know for sure, how much of an affect this really has on my earnings, but I don’t know if I could do it.  I love redecorating my house, but I love my Internet better.
